Trip to Aoraki National Park

On Sunday, we drove to Tarras and stayed in this lovely B&B - Ardgour Strawbale B&B.
On the way, we stopped at the Rippon Vineyard - absolutely adorable - where we bought wine and picnicked.  This is the wine tasting room and shop.
The view from the winery was pretty good too.

There were some beautiful wild flowers along the way.
On Monday, we drove to Aoraki National Park and took a 2 hour boat trip on Tasman Lake,  the terminus of theTasman Glacier.
Getting suited up for the boats.
Icebergs and glaciers.
This is not an ice sculpture!
This is the actual terminus of the glacier.  All the icebergs have come from this spot.  They break off under water and pop up to the surface with tremendous force. The head of the glacier is 16 miles up into the mountain that you can't see on the right (behind the one that you can see).
At the end of the day, we stopped for a glass of wine with some great real estate.  That's Aoraki from a different point of view.
