Back in Tucson

We're back in Tucson for a while, but spent some time in Louisville at Jil's birthday.  We went to watch Josie at the end of a day-long jump rope and she enlisted Jil in a partner jumping.  The long and short of it.

On of my friends from Bend is here for the winter and she and I have covered about 18 miles in the Rincon's in the last week.  Some of the scenery.  It's amazing how quickly it becomes really remote and "far away from Tucson".  We were probably no more than 7 or 8 miles from our house.

Finished (Almost) Remodel

Finally, we have some house pictures to share.  We received the Certificate of Occupancy and have started to move things from Keystone to Frisco.

What Have We Been Doing?

We spent some time in Louisville seeing Jil, Chance and the girls; and yes, even some road damage from the flooding.
Lots of soccer!
A goal by # 8, Josie!
Then to Orange County for a horse show.
There was a costume class and the cows won.
We celebrated my birthday a little early with a trip to Farrell's.

Catching Up and House Pictures

We've taken some hikes, had a beautiful fall and have begun to see winter.  There are also some changes at the house in Frisco.  They say they'll be done in 2 weeks (I'll believe that when I see it).
Some remains in a ghost town in Mayflower Gulch, at about 11,800'.

Aspens in fall and winter.

Back to Autumn

Took a short (4 mile) walk around Keystone today.
Looking up the Haywood run (Schoolmarm is to the left).
This is the River Run run, at the gondola.
And some pretty trees along the way.

Saturday in Aspen and Snowmass

We came to Snowmass for the weekend to see the Snowmass Balloon Festival, but as you know it has been raining in Colorado for days - weeks maybe so all the liftoffs were cancelled.  There was a night light up, even though all the balloons stayed on the ground.  Hardly anything to complain about though, considering eastern Colorado.
There was a hint of a sunrise this morning, but that as all.
So we went to Aspen, where even construction is beautiful.
We walked along the Rio Grande Trail and visited the John Denver Sanctuary
.Then we decided to go to the grand tasting at the Snowmass Wine Festival.  I met up with the Rex Goliath mascot.
There also was a Ferrari Festival with lots of them.

I almost forgot - the emergency vehicles here are quite distinct - not your normal red fire truck!

Love these next 2 pics - same balloon, with and without the burners on.

Frisco Update

Finally, we're beginning to see more construction than destruction. New doors are being installed.
Notice that these two bathroom doors no longer open into each other.
The kitchen cabinets are being installed (somehow).

And boards are going on the new deck.

July Horse Show in Santa Barbara

The Santa Barbara National Horse Show was held at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in early July.  I worked for Leslie all week and Lucy rode.  I just received pictures from the show (taken by one of Leslie's former riders).
Preparing to go into the ring.  It looks like Lucy and Leslie both have the same thing in mind.  The pony's name is Adorable (her barn name is Hazel).
In the ring.
With her 1st blue ribbon (there were 5 other riders in the class) for "Walk/Trot over Poles".
A celebratory crêpe at Pacific Crêpes.
Horse Love.
