Stage 5 USA Pro Cycling Challenge

We've temporarily been moved from our condo by painters - drywall repair, ceiling and priming for new paint everywhere.  It turns out there's nowhere to go in a one bedroom condo when the whole thing is being worked on.  Nowhere, except the Best Western Ptarmigan Inn in Dillon, a perfect place to be for the bike race, since roads were closed around the area yesterday.  Not bad views from the balcony, either.
There were concerts here Friday and Saturday nights and now Sunday church service.

Stage 5 started in Steamboat at 11:20am and ended in Breckinridge around 3:45pm.  We left the motel at 11:15 and drove to Summit High School, parked there and rode our bikes the last 8 miles to Breck (all uphill).  It was a lot more fun riding back to the car at the end of the day.
Things were still quiet around 1pm; Phil and Paul were just getting ready.
Then it got a little crazy as people were everywhere trying too get a good view.
Then the cyclists arrived.
Just missed Viviani, who won - then came Castaneda, Oss and Van Widen. Bart was on one side of the finish line and I was just before the finish on the other.  At least I got Leipheimer in one picture.
An estimated 50,000 lined the roads in Summit County!

Weekend in Denver and Louisville

Chris and Virginia gave Bart tickets to a Rockies game as a 70th birthday present.  We went on Saturday and watched them beat the Dodgers.  Yahoo!
A nice park-like area near right center field.
Our seats were terrific - on the first base line and 7 rows from the dugout.
Looking back toward home plate from center field.
We spent Friday and Saturday nights in Louisville - dinner on Friday with Jil and Chance and all the girls at Lucky Pie.  After the ball game, Saturday, we hurried back to Louisville to hear Robert Earl Keen.

Kettle Ponds Hike

On Wednesday, we took a 6.5 mile hike to an unnamed lake, past many kettle ponds, like the one below.
The unnamed lake.  We named it Serenity Lake.
A mountain Stream along the way.

Shrine Mountain Hike

Jil and the girls came up Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday we took a 4.2 mile hike up Shrine Mountain.  There were beautiful wildflowers all along the way, and there was snow at a little over 11,800'!

Back in Keystone

On Wednesday we left hot Tucson for the mountains of Colorado.  Stayed overnight in Santa Fe. Cactus traveled well and was at home everywhere.
We arrived Thursday afternoon and woke up Friday to cool (65 degrees cooler than Tucson) Colorado.
Saturday was the first day of the Bluegrass and Beer Festival in Keystone.
