Long Weekend in Phoenix

On Thursday we drove to Phoenix for the start of a great weekend. Thursday night's concert at Jobing.com Arena was terrific. How can Bruce not be terrific?
He closed, 3 (straight) hours and 20 minutes later, with Santa Claus is Coming to Town and invited all the children onto the stage.  It reminded me of Central Park and Jil on stage with all the children - that time invited by Pete Seeger.
We stayed within walking distance of the arena and were surprised the next day to see what we had walked past in the dark.
We drove back to Tucson, where we saw this Great Horned Owl.
Quite a weekend!

Thanksgiving in Aluquerque

We left Colorado on Nov.19, after having a birthday dinner with Jil (hopefully pictures will follow shortly) and drove to Albuquerque where we met up with Kate, James, Kyle and Liam.  We visited Petroglyph National Monument,

the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum, (not sure why this was in the balloon museum).

the Explora Science Center and Children's Museum, where there were challenges for all.
and help too!

On Thanksgiving day we rode the Sandia Peak Tram.
And ended the day with a  nice harvest dinner at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

New Home in Frisco, CO

We did it!  We closed on a new place for us in the Colorado mountains.  After 3 years of 1 bedroom condo living, we decided to move up to a 3 bedroom duplex.  Although we closed on the property Thursday, by next Thursday it will be rented through April 30 (for the ski season).  Here are some pics.
The view from the deck.

And look what it came with.
Jil and Chance and the girls came up this weekend to test drive the house.
It worked.

An Eclectic Post

I have so many pictures to post, but since we're back in Tucson I haven't spent much time online - you all know why.  In Colorado, we went to the USA Women's Soccer match vs. Australia with the Thomason family.  Some pre-game anticipation.
I know you've seen game photos, but you can actually see the ball in the goal here!
Then Bart went to Cape Cod for SEA meetings and a little fun.

We left Colorado mid-October via Aspen.  It was a little snowy on the day we left.

Couldn't resist taking a picture of this sticker!

Tall Ships and San Diego

I did go to San Diego in early September, where many houses hang out over the ocean, and the Festival of Sail 2012 was going on about a half mile from the train station.  I was at the train station to ride to Santa Barbara - and had a couple of hours to spend before my departure.
Amtrack Train Station in San Diego

Tall Ships - this one is now named "The Surprise" and was used for the movie Master and Commander, but more importantly, it used to be named "The Rose" and Chris served as a mate on it for a couple of years.  In 1996 Bart sailed on it, with Chris, from Portsmiths, England to Saint-Nazaire, France.

Some Colorado Pictures

My post are so out of sequence.  I still have tall ships photos from San Diego.  They'll be the next batch. I just couldn't resist these fall photos.  On Thursday I hiked up from "the dredge" trailhead, crossing the Colorado trail several times.  It's named the dredge for this.
Yesterday I drove up Borreas Pass for beautiful aspen pictures.

Borreas Pass is just south of Breckenridge and driving back through Breck I saw  a fox!  It's my second fox of the summer, but the first one with a camera handy.
Today, Sunday, Keystone had a "rail jam" just to get ready for the snow season.

And the mountain bikers were out as well since this is the last weekend for the mountain bike park.
Henry, this could be you!

USA Pro Cycling Challenge - August 23

Last week (when I started to write this - now it's at least 3 weeks ago)! Bart and I went to Leadville to watch Stage 4 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.  We camped there, rode our bikes on the Mineral Belt Loop Trail in the morning, dodged the rain and watched as the racers reached the Sprint Line in Leadville - they still had about an hour + to ride into Beaver Creek - having started in Aspen.
On the Mineral Belt Trail.
Jens Voigt, stage winner and first to cross the Sprint Line.
