Temperature Relief in Summerhaven

We wanted to hike yesterday, so we drove up to the top of Mt. Lemmon (Summerhaven) and took a 5.5 mile hike along the Marshall Gulch and Aspen Ridge trails. The temp was 82 when we got back to the car. It was 102 when we got back to our house!

Gardening Tucson Style

This is the area by the pool. See how tall the sunflowere is in the left?
It's almost ready to bloom (looking down on it from the porch).

More looking down on squash, cucumbers, zinias, marigolds, nasturtiums and of course sunflowers.
Back to the area off the kitchen.  What do you think is under here?
Wow! Lots of pretty (and yummy) tomatoes in a pretty pot.

It's amazing what you have to do here to prtect these plants from rabbits, javelinas, birds and the sun.

Last Weekend in Phoenix

Staurday evening I went to a Diamondbacks' game with my friends Jamie and Diana (Bart's on Cape Cod).  I think that they are watering the base path pre-game.  You can walk all the way around Chase Field .  As you can see, I took this picture from the outfield.

Our seats were great and the Cardinals are warming up a new pitcher.

In case you can't make out the score for this poor last batter, it's 7 -2 and the Diamondbacks win!

On Sunday, we went to the Phoenix Art Musem and then drove home.  It was a really fun weekend.
