USA Pro Cycling Challenge

On Tuesday Aug. 20, we left Keystone and headed to Tucson.  We planned it so that we would be in Buena Vista, CO when the riders came thorough.  It worked well; we got in with about 2 and 1/2 hours to spare.  Buena Vista has a nice small main street which was pretty quiet at 10 am.
Had a long, slow breakfast and then picked our spot at the sprint line.  From there we were a short walk from the 90 degree corner they made coming into town.  Fortunately the 5 riders in the breakaway crossed the sprint finish about 4 minutes ahead of the peloton so we had time to reposition ourselves. Luis Lemus is crossing the line first.

Cactus

These are some of our favorite pictures of Cactus (and a few of the things she put up with).  After her second serious renal failure in 2 and 1/2 months, we decided it was best to let her go.  The vet clinic in Dillon was fantastic and very supportive during these 2 months and with our decision at the end.

Bluegrass and Beer Fest and BBQ at the Summit

The last 2 weekends were busy with beer drinking and rib eating. First the Bluegrass and Beer Fest at Keystone.  We did get some charity time in too.
Courtesy of the Dillon Dam Brewery.
Not sure what group this was, but the women below were my favorites.  Their band's name is Giddyup Kitty.

Then on to the BBQ in Dillon where John Lee Hooker, Jr. was playing
On Saturday, we joined lots of people in Summit County for a benefit walk/run (we chose walk) for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  We walked for Tian's son, Luka, as well as for my friend, Paul Bennett's, brother.

Frisco Remodel Update

These pictures may not look too different from the ones a month ago, but there is progress being made.  The outside of the garage has been stoned to match the rest of the foundation.

New kitchen and dining area windows. There won't be this many holes in the ceiling.  Right now you see both old and new can placements.
A cutout (now covered with plywood) for a sliding patio door in the living room.  The old door will just be walled over.
An enlarged deck, although not too visible from this angle.

Another Day, Another Hike

This time we went on a hike just east of Vail, on the Gore Creek Trail.  We had gone about 2 miles when I made the decision to turn back - the footing was terrible!  It was pretty, though.
