Palm Springs Too

We had a geat weekend in Palm Springs - tennis, great breakfasts and dinners, snow and swimming.  Wendy's post linked everything, so I'm just adding a few pictures."Beary" had the best seat in the house.

The ice cream was good too.

Wenday and Lucy at the top of the tram and swimming after we got back to our motel.

Las Vegas Trip

We drove to Las Vegas Thursday. On Friday, we went to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area about 15 miles west of Las Vegas.  It was pretty cool with  wild rock colorations - sometimes red on top

and sometimes red on the bottom

We also drove across Hoover Dam and thought it would be cool to take a dam tour. I can only picture Chevy Chase!  We should have toured on Thursday because there were TOOOOO many people there on Saturday. Oh well, it was fun to drive across anyway.

Sabino Canyon after lots of rain!

Yesterday.  Bridges on the tram road (in succession from low to high elevation).
Be prepared - there are a lot of bridges on this road.
Hope you enjoyed the water.  We had a good time.

Hike to Bridal Wreath Falls

Yestreday we took a short, but strenuous hike (about 5.2 miles round trip) to Bridal Wreath Falls in the Saguaro East National Park.  It was 2.6 miles to the falls, with almost a 1,000' gain in elevation from the trailhead. Bart says that's about a 7% gradient.  It surely seemed steep, especially the 1st mile was almost flat.
There wasn't as much water running as we had hoped, but worth the trip anyway.  This saguaro is just a skeleton, but very photogenic and the ocotillo is beginning to leaf out (you have to look very closely between the thorns).
