Bart's Birthday

We celebrated Bart's birthday over several days.  On Wednesday, after meeting with the kitchen cabinet folks in Leadville, we took a ride on the Leadville train.  It was a 2 and 1/2 hour trip with some great views.  Leadville's at about 10,150' and we went up a bit from town.
This train used to service Denver - the trip took about 12 hours.  Today we can drive it in 2 hours.
Loved the water tower.

Here's the birthday boy in front of the caboose.
On Friday, we went to dinner in Breckenridge.  Look closely to see flowers reflected in a wine glass.

Then we went to a John Adams "Tribute to John Denver" concert, also in Breck.

Colorado Pictures

Hummingbirds at the feeder on the porch at Keystone. First, there were two.
Then there were three.
And then ...
At the top of Ptarmigan Pass (11,786') on July 23.
Looking up to Ptarmigan Hill.  After climbing 1,230' to the pass, we thought we'd just take a picture of the peak.
Looking north toward the Gore Range.

Hike up Shrine Mountain

After late snowfall during most of April and a lot of late spring/early summer rain, the wildflowers this year are spectacular.  We took this hike with Jil and the girls a couple of years ago, but with wildflowers like this, we think we should do this hike every year (11,875' at the top).  Shrine Mountain is in the Vail Pass area.

The views were just as spectacular.

And a beautiful butterfly (maybe a Western Swallowtail).

A Frisco Update

Still looks like demo derby, but these pics show some progress.
Wider stairs!
No goofy wall between the family room and the hall and bedroom!  Notice that the second closet in the bedroom is gone.
No step down after stepping up the stairs!
A larger garage to accommodate a laundry room.

Out of Order - Last Day in Paris with Kathleen, Leyla, and Conor

The last day we spent together in Paris we went to the Jardin d'Acclimatation; a very manageable park with lots of rides and fun things for young children.  We started off mildly with a nice boat ride through  a pretty forest.
Then things got a little more exciting after Bart and Conor and I went on a small roller coaster, Conor and Leyla went for a wild ride.
Some bumper cars and a camel ride.

At least I got to be the holder of Conor's hat.
Then we stopped for some wine near the Arc de Triomphe and Kathleen ordered a hamburger entrĂ©e.  Only in Paris, would they be served like this!

England

A few pictures, just to let you all know that we are in England.
